The 70th Primetime Emmy Awards aired on NBC on Monday. 96-year-old Betty White was honoured at the show for her contribution of more than 80 years in television. White, who has won eight Emmy Awards in her career, got a standing ovation. Colin Jost and Michael Che hosted the show.

This year had some interesting nominations. Here’s a list of all female winners.

Outstanding lead actress for drama series

Claire Foy won the lead drama actress Emmy for “The Crown”. She paid homage to the next season of the series. “The show goes on, which makes me so, so proud. I dedicate this to the next cast, the next generation, and I also dedicate it to Matt Smith,” Foy said, referencing the actor who played Queen Elizabeth’s husband, Prince Phillip.

Foy was nominated last year for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II on Netflix’s royal family drama as well. However, she had lost to “The Handmaid’s Tale” star Elisabeth Moss. She not only beat Moss this time, but also Tatiana Maslany (“Orphan Black”), Sandra Oh (“Killing Eve”), Keri Russell (“The Americans”) and Evan Rachel Wood (“Westworld”).

Outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series

Alex Borstein, bagged the award for  “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”. The others nominated in the category were Zazie Beetz (Atlanta), Aidy Bryant (Saturday Night Live), Betty Gilpin (GLOW), Leslie Jones (Saturday Night Live),  Kate McKinnon (Saturday Night Live), Laurie Metcalf (Roseanne) and Megan Mullally (Will & Grace).

Outstanding lead actress in a limited series or TV movie

Regina King, won for “Seven Seconds”. Jessica Biel (The Sinner), Laura Dern (The Tale), Michelle Dockery (Godless), Edie Falco (Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders) and Sarah Paulson (American Horror Story: Cult) were nominated in this category.

Outstanding lead actress in a comedy series

Rachel Brosnahan, emerged as a winner for “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”. The nominations had some interesting names like Pamela Adlon (Better Things), Allison Janney (Mom), Issa Rae (Insecure), Tracee Ellis Ross (Black-ish) and Lily Tomlin (Grace and Frankie).

Outstanding supporting actress in a limited series or movie

Merritt Wever, won for the “Godless”. The other nominations featured Sara Bareilles (Jesus Christ Superstar Live In Concert), Penelope Cruz (The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story), Judith Light (The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story), Adina Porter (American Horror Story: Cult) and Letitia Wright (Black Mirror).

Outstanding supporting actress in a drama series

This one went to Thandie Newton, for “Westworld“. The others nominated were Alexis Bledel for “The Handmaid’s Tale”, Millie Bobby Brown, for “Stranger Things”, Ann Dowd, for “The Handmaid’s Tale”, Lena Headey, for “Game of Thrones”, Vanessa Kirby (The Crown), Yvonne Strahovski (The Handmaid’s Tale).

The most important highlight was that Amy Sherman-Palladino won two awards for writing and direction for the show “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”. 

Outstanding drama series

It was “Game of Thrones” in the end which swept away the best drama series award. The others shows nominated in the category were “The Handmaid’s Tale”, “Stranger Things”, “The Americans”, “This Is Us” and “Westworld”.
